Most of the leaves have fallen off of the tree in my front yard and we ate a bunch of turkey yesterday, so even though it’s probably going to be 70 today here in Georgia, I guess it’s fall.
It’s been a while since I’ve given an update, so I wanted to do that to keep everyone informed of what’s going on in my writing world.
Probably most important, Planetside 3 (which still doesn’t have a title) is just about done. I owe it to the publisher on December 9th, and I’ll make that with a few days to spare. The revision is going great, and I’m really happy with how it has turned out. After I turn it in, I’ll wait for edits, then copy edits, then page proofs, but given where the book is, I don’t think any of those will be too onerous. I’m told the book should hit stores around Christmas of 2020.
While I wait for edits on Planetside 3, I’ll be working on my fourth novel for Harper Voyager. The current plan is for it to be a stand-alone book, not associated with the Planetside universe. With that said, the book I’ve got planned is intended that if you like the Planetside books, you’re very likely to like this as well. It’s the same type of story, just with different characters, different tech, and a different war. I’ve got a draft proposal written and some draft sample chapters, and I’ll be cleaning those up and getting them off to my publisher for approval to move forward once I finish the revision of Planetside 3. I expect to complete this project early, and hope that means my publisher can find me a 2021 release date (But it’s really too early to tell).
In other news, Planetside was on sale for $1.99 on kindle for the month of November (If you missed that, the sale lasts through the 30th) and we sold a bunch of books. What’s a lot? It depends who you are, I guess. We sold right around 2500 for the month, which…for a guy like me, that’s a lot of books for one month. So if you’re here because you just picked up Planetside during the sale, welcome.
And that’s about it. No real updates on what happens after book 4. I have ideas…lots of ideas…but I’m focusing on getting that one done, since it’s under contract. I’m sure there will be more projects — I just can’t predict right now what specific things publishers might want.
Love your books, sir. You write with a voice I recognize from my time as a grunt. You should have a mailing list. Christmas 2020 is a long time and I’d hate to forget and miss the next release.
Thanks. I tried doing a mailing list, but found that I didn’t keep up with it.
I just finished Spaceside. Marvelous! Please keep up the great work!
