#PraPit, a twitter pitch practice session, is happening on November 29th from 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern. You can read about it here.
In order to help you get ready, I thought I’d offer some resources. And since there’s nothing new about this, and because…well…I’m not very good at it, I’ve simply gone and stolen…uh…borrowed stuff that other people already created.
And if you’re asking yourself right now if I just quoted a professional wrestler…yes. Yes I did. May he rest in peace. So without further digression, let’s get to why we’re here. Creating your twitter pitch.
I mean, how hard can it be? Just take your entire 80,000 word novel and sum it up in 140 characters. Oh, and don’t forget to leave room for the hashtags.
The following are some resources that people gave me when I asked a group of people ‘Hey, how about you share your best links to things that talk about how to twitter pitch.’ Are you sensing a trend here? Does that trend seem like ‘Mike isn’t actually doing any of the work?’ If that’s what you sense, then the force is strong in you.
The Links:
A great look at the basics of building a pitch from Brenda Drake here.
Another look at the basics from The Winged Pen here.
My CP Colleen Halverson wrote about the attitude of pitching, and how to bring yours out here.
Tips and tricks from Writability here.
A very detailed look at pitching from Traci Chee here.
I’m really sure that I’ve missed a hundred other resources. Please, if you have one, feel free to share it in the comments.
And as you prepare for your twitter contests, good luck
Or something like that.
