I had a busy spring break. The weekend of April 18th my wife and I were in Seattle for Norwescon. If you haven’t been to Norwescon, you’ve got to go. It’s a fan con that focuses on SF and Fantasy. It’s well attended — I did a Thursday afternoon panel and a Sunday morning panel, and both of them had around 40 people in the audience — and the fans were quite possibly the smartest I’ve seen. The questions were all on point and engaging. It was just a great experience. If you’re a pro writer, I can’t recommend it enough. The Con staff was amazing and helpful, and everything was so well run and organized. I only wish it wasn’t a 3000 mile trip so I could go back every year.
The next weekend (last weekend) I was down in Melbourne, Florida for the spring writers’ conference called Write, Publish, Sell. I gave a one hour presentation on pace, and had a great time with it. After that I hung out at the sci-fi genre table and talked to five or six writers about what all of us were working on and where we were going. It was a great atmosphere of camaraderie and helpful attitudes. I’ll definitely try to make it back again next year.
Coming soon:
May 17th from 7PM to 9PM I’ll be at the Savannah Barnes and Noble with a few other local authors signing books. Come on down and say hi.
May 31st through June 2nd I will be in Charlotte, NC, at Con Carolinas. I don’t have my final schedule yet, but I know I’m doing a book signing on Friday evening and will be on panels throughout the weekend. It’s my first time at the con, so I don’t know what to expect, but it looks huge — there are something like 150 guests on the website. Those guests include my critique partner and friend, Rebecca Enzor and my agent sibling and friend Teresa Frohock, so come on out and meet all of us.
